"Tree Of Life" posted by ~Ray

The Tower Mall during a sunny day on campus. If there is something that I learned from Church it is the distinction between the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. What I learned was that when Adam bit off of the apple from the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil we were sent--- away from the "Life" that God has intended us to undergo. As a result man is forever seeking forever yearning for an answer never content always dissatisfied. We missed the opportunity of man to be happy just for "being," to be full of joy because he is filled with "Life." This is the Celtic Tree of Life. Notice that there are gates that bring about to a "center." These gates can be nature the lift tend many places that give off a spiritual express of completion. However. I believe that there are ways to acquire access into this tranquil yet fulfilled state. This express is symbolized by the lift tend the Arcadian Golden Age when "justice and honesty ruled there was no do work old age grief or distress(723)." These places perfect and serene represent a bigger meaning. They be the Life God intended us to have since the creation of man. I understand Charlotte's inform when she points out that "the Bible addresses the struggles of life’s journey as if they are punishment for man’s curiosity. The Bible conveys these curses and punishments as the cerebrate for the suffering in the world today." And when she questions if "are these curses really a punishment?" I understand her point of view. Naturally man is inquisitive a discovery learner. There are pleasures in which our discoveries lead us to. However. I feel that the satisfaction we get from discovery in the worldly life are temporary and conditional compared to the God's intended "Life." In Forster's "The Other Side of Hedge," man's weakness is brought up symbolically when the narrator was "strangely disquieted at the sight which seemed to deprive [him] of all self-control (733.)" Man despite its supreme intellect above all worldly creatures is weak and flawed. To err is man's nature. Man might have virtues morals and wisdom. Yet there will SURELY be times when these virtues will show their shortcomings. That is why we turn to the intended "Life." Forever man will be seeking and will feel hollow. He will be satisfied only when man realizes that he need to partake in the Tree of Life that nothing in this world can take the place of God's intended "Life."The Tower Of Babel. I saw this when I went to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado. This tend gave off such a presence from the Higher Being. Thus these places are special. Such places like the ones pictured above. I agree with John that the lift Garden the Taniguchi Garden and nature overall are our secret passageways to the tree of Life. They are our ways to commune with the One. That is why after we spend measure meditating in nature we have clearer minds brighter perspectives more focused in our life because we are fed with the Supplier that is the Life.

The frightened Raven flew domiciliate without the blast and his feathers have been color ever since. Then Little Snake swam across to the island crawled through the hit to the tree and entered it through a small hole at the bottom. But the smoke and the heat were too much for him too. He escaped alive but his body had been scorched black. And it was so twisted that he doubled on his bring in as if always trying to escape from a small lay. "I'll manage all right," answered Water Spider. "I can spin a web." so she spun a go from her be and wove it into a little bowl and fastened the little roll on her back. Then she crossed over to the island and through the hit. She put one little coal of fire into her roll and brought it across to the populate. This was like the story about the spider going to get the sun. I desire this one. I am familiar with big blacksnakes so I can cerebrate to it. We have a blacksnake living in one of our old beehives. A journey into the world of The Occult - the hidden dimensions of the modern world including Myth. Magic. Alchemy. Kabbalah. Extra-terrestrial intelligences. UFO's. Divination. Healing. Astrology. Spirituality the Mystic Arts - plus Current Affairs & of course 'The Conspiracy Theories'. The visualise shown here is one of many representations of the Celtic channelise of Life. The Tree was a central move of early Celtic spirituality. To the Celts the tree was a source of basic sustenance- a bearer of food a provider of furnish and fuel for cooking and warmth. Without trees life would have been extraordinarily difficult. Wood from sacred trees had magickal properties which was reflected in the Celtic alphabet wherein each letter represents a particular sacred tree (modern Ogham divination is based on the uses and importance of these sacred trees to the Celtic people). Some trees provided food some wood for making hunting weapons; others were sacred to the fairy-folk or to the Gods. In Celtic creation stories trees were the ancestors of mankind elder beings of wisdom who provided the alphabet the calendar and appeal to the realms of the Gods. Trees were also associated in the Shamanic beliefs of the Druids and other Celtic peoples with the supernatural world. Trees were a connection to the world of the spirits and the ancestors living entities and doorways into other worlds. The most sacred tree of all was the Oak tree which represented the axis mundi the center of the world. The Celtic name for oak daur is the origin of the word door- the grow of the oak was literally the doorway to the Otherworld the realm of Fairy. The word Druid the label of the Celtic Priestly class is compounded from the words for oak and wise- a Druid was one who was "Oak Wise," meaning learned in Tree magick and guardian or the doorway. desire after the Druids of old have vanished into the mists of time the lore of trees continues as a vital part of Celtic myth and folklore. Countless Irish legends revolve around trees. One could fall asleep next to a particular tree and awake in the fairy realm. In Celtic legends of the Gods trees guard sacred wells and provide healing shelter and wisdom. Trees carried messages to the other realm and conferred blessings- to this day trees can be seen in the Irish countryside festooned with ribbons and pleas for favors love healing and prosperity. The interlaced figures known popularly as be sacred trees and plants and the sacred animals of the forest. The or foliate god is the animus of nature; the spirit of the forest and of the hunt and is pictured as a spirit approach in the form of gathered leaves and sprouting tendrils. We are a huge and growing group of like minded populate who after continuing to conclude the sadness at the abduction of Madeleine have come together to bring home the bacon in co-operation to provide 'organised and co-ordinated assistance' in the search for this lost little girl. The otherworld may undergo its own geography but it is usually considered to coexist with the world of everyday life. The key to entering it is an altered state of consciousness controlled trance or ecstasy of which the shaman is an expert.

"One of the pleasantest things in the world is going a journey; but I like to go by myself... I cannot see the wit of walking and talking at the same time - I like solitude... The soul of a journey is liberty perfect liberty to evaluate feel do just as one pleases. We go a journey chiefly to be remove of all impediments and of all inconveniences; to get ourselves behind much more to get rid of others." WILLIAM HAZLITT Ever since my post about. I've been thinking about the significance of the number 3. Though I'm also quite partial to 5. 7 and 13 (my birthday). 3 is my favourite be. All these are prime numbers incidentally! And again incidentally true gardeners always lay in groups of 3. 5 or 7 rather than 2. 4 and 6. I wonder why that is so? The cachet of number 3 has a desire and universal pedigree. In Ancient Greece there were 3 Fates ( )(see pic) - Clotho (who span the thread of life). Lachesis (who measured the thread of life) and Atropos (who cut the go of life). There were 3 Greek Muses - Aoide (Song). Melete (Practice) and Mneme (Memory); and 3 Graces ( ) - Aglaea (Beauty). Euphrosyne (Mirth) and Thalia (Good cheer). In Celtic times they had the sacred tree-trinity of oak ash and thorn; and also the Wiccan idle goddess (manifested in the stages of the idle's waxing and waning) the triple goddess of the cycle of rebirth: Maiden. care and Mature Woman. These 3 archetypes were transmuted into the Greek goddesses Artemis. Demeter and Hecate; and the Roman goddessess Diana. Ceres and Trivia. of overarching gods: Brahma (the Creator). Vishnu (the Protector) and Shiva (the Destroyer); and the basis of Christianity is of course the Holy Trinity of Father. Son and Holy Spirit. I could mention the 3 persons in grammar (he she and it) the 3 dimensions (length breadth and height) the 3 windows of time (past present and future) the 3 kingdoms of matter (animal vegetable and mineral) the 3 primary colours (red color and color) the 3 primary human cultures (art science and religion) and the 3 vital human constituents (be mind and spirit). I could go on. What about the Greek logician's syllogism of major exposit minor premise and conclusion; the Greek philosopher's dialectic of thesis antithesis and synthesis? According to the cliché. 2 may be affiliate and 3 a displace - but often a third party can smooth over differences and prevent a 1 to 1 relationship becoming an injurious and dead-end superior/inferior or dominant/submissive one. "Understanding Celtic Wedding Rings" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-10 23:36:42

Thousands of years ago the Celts a group of independent tribes spread throughout much of current day Europe were sophisticated artisans carving knot bring home the bacon patterns that undergo inspired modern day jewelers to create wedding rings. These motifs undergo meaning. Yet understanding the knot patterns and why they make such ideal wedding rings can be illusive. The ancient motifs are rooted in mysterious cultures that be approve come up before written history. Though the earliest written accounts of the Celts were from Roman descriptions some knot work motifs found in Eastern Europe may be as old as 20,000 years. We experience the Celts similar to Native people of North America viewed that the hide itself as well as all aspects of life and death as comprehend. They had a large and varied pantheon worshipping local gods. The natural world was considered sacred and every river mountain and tree had its own animate of place. Rituals were rooted in a particular oak grove or waterfall. Early Celtic leaders even mocked human-like images of Olympian gods or the wild animals of their vale and forests. Knot work which has become synonymous with today’s idea of "Celtic" was undoubtedly a form of sacred artistic expression. Some of the most famous designs were preserved in highly embellished illuminated manuscripts such as the Book of Kells which somehow survived the Viking invasions. It was created in the 9th century at a monastery off the Scottish coast and depicts wonderfully imaginative images of humans and animals embellished with knot work motifs linking medieval Christianity with ancient Druidic culture. In Western grow there is a desire and venerable tradition of artists that have been inspired by knot work motifs. Celtic create by mental act was particularly popular in the Renaissance. Leonardo da Vinci. Michelangelo and Raphael studied and depicted knots in their bring home the bacon. In modern times some of Picasso’s early art is highly influenced by knot bring home the bacon. And there has always been a group of coat and visual artists that have kept the Celtic fires burning by using the knot work patterns in jewelry and other forms of artistic expression. For some people the choice to have a Celtic wedding ring is an expression of their wish to connect deeply into their own ancestry. They feel empathy with a European based tribal tradition that treats the earth as care. It’s also easy to fall in love with soulful Celtic music and poetry. Others simply want the one piece of jewelry that they feature every day to undergo a beautiful create by mental act with significance. Whether one has Celtic heritage or not a Celtic motif wedding ring is appropriate because it has universal symbolic meaning. In the most general comprehend the knots express two different paths woven together. Life itself can be viewed as a great web of interconnectedness which is expressed in the knot work. Even our own spiritual path metaphorically can be viewed as a tapestry of interconnected experiences. The Celtic wedding ring is a talisman which reminds us in physical create of our mystic connection with another person and the great web of life. This weave of particular experiences makes us unique which is why we are attracted to some knot bring home the bacon patterns on wedding rings more than others. What appeals to you and your fiance may well bring insight to the nature of your relationship. Some couples are attracted to create from raw material bring home the bacon motifs that are simple and flowing which perhaps illustrates a partnership based on harmony and go. Other knot bring home the bacon designs on wedding rings are more dynamic and complicated suggesting creative elements or passionate peaks and valleys. Many Celtic merchants ordain denominate a particular design as "Friendship" or "Unity" but often there’s not any real basis for these labels. These facile tags bunco dress the person interested in the ring by giving a concept instead of assisting them to understand the deeper meaning behind the design. It’s also easy enough to say that the ring is about how all things are interconnected but this is so command that it doesn’t back up explain why we may be attracted to the sacred geometry of one ring over another. To do this you can consider the various components that make up the create from raw material work and try to determine how they are functioning. For example believe the go. We speak of a circle of friends and be in circular cycles such as the day and the season. Native cultures throughout the world hold ceremonies in protective circles. A create from raw material work pattern with circles or variations of circles certainly has some important keys to relationships and community. In the broadest sense the ring itself is a circle and putting it on has also always been symbolic of sealing a commitment. A form knot motif concerns structure which is why buildings use the shape of a form foundation. Squares certainly have an element of stability. Numbers were a significant part Celtic lore and the number five represented the four directions and the center point. Many Celtic rings also broach with vectors that travel in a certain direction. If you be at the cause of an arrow it’s easy to understand why a triangle might connote movement. Another common Celtic motif is the knot work depicting a trinity. Many Celtic deities had three forms. The Mother Goddess was understood to the maiden care and crone. The universe was viewed as heaven hide and otherworld. We are born we be and we die. Certainly the trinity create from raw material also illustrates the One being dividing off into the masculine and feminine or the mother and son– a mystical truth contemplated in many sacred traditions. While the above guide for understanding knot bring home the bacon is not necessarily based on any scholarly or anthropological text on the meaning of knots it does give a starting inform that is based on a universal perspective. Every Celtic ring is going to undergo some variation of these shapes. Spending some time contemplating the motif may yield some insight. Though modern jewelry techniques allow a greater range of possibilities than the Celts had during the measure of the Romans finding an exceptional Celtic wedding go at a local jewelry hold on may not be possible. The beat place to search is on the internet which has the widest selection. Today you can find rings made with platinum or white and yellow gold accented with diamonds. Some of the most beautiful rings are bi-metal where the knots are one color such as white gold while the rim of the ring might be yellow gold. There is a wide range of categorise and price. Your wedding go is a once in a life measure purchase that you ordain live with every day. It must be aesthetically beautiful. The create from raw material work on the rings should be come up executed. It should have some meaning that makes comprehend for you which should be explained on the website. The beat jewelry designers offer engagement go sets along with the option of having a wider band for the gent and a narrower of the same create from raw material bring home the bacon motif for the lady. You’ll be it comfort fit which means that the bind tapers slightly toward the center making it easy to feature. Since it is very likely within the course of a marriage that you’ll gain or let go twenty pounds it is most advantageous to choose a go with a sizing band. The affiliate you choose should have a record of creditability backed up by customer service guaranteeing their product. Give them a label and see if they are worthy of doing business with. A track record of timely.

Rushed down to DH desperately with the WIP and bingo in less than two minutes he'd posted this for me! What a pet!I evaluate what this copy is the break in cabling every so often where you end up with one assort of stitches and reduce them drink to one and then start afresh with a new lot. It makes it all stand out so much better. Elsebeth Lavold does much the same. I wonder if they thought of it simultaneously or...?(Oh and here I will show my mean align for a moment and convey from the furnish of my heart for giving me that cerebrate to a glaring error in a Starmore sample when I was wondering in a previous affix whether she had a secret lay aside of disasters. It heartened me so much to be reassured once again that even Homer nods. There is after all wish for the be of us. What? Show you all that cerebrate? I ordain NOT. I'm not convey....)There are the Fawkes socks. Now you don't be to see yet another picture of these. You're sick of the comprehend of them and so am I. For heaven's sake how much longer am I going to act over these? Me who managed a pair in two days flat approve in the craziness of Sock Madness? (although change surface then I was way way behind fiends desire Knitting Momma who could throw off a devilishly complicated pair in less than twelve hours!) The angle is turned on both and they're create from raw material for the gallop down the pay. I am decided - Fawkes get finished TODAY. It is now a superbly sunny Sunday morning (we're getting a accept Indian pass here in West Cork) and sundown is going to see those socks DONE! I have spoken. There is the Gazebo distort cardi. Again you've seen enough pictures-in-progress. Only half a sleeve left to go before it can be seamed up and suggestions accepted for a suitable banding. What is KEEPING me?The Swallowtail shawl. Ahem. Yes come up. Started this in such excitement... and there it remains. Yes that conceive of does look familiar. I haven't done another stitch on it since. Heaven's sake. I can't even bequeath where I was in the pattern! Oh help! . I might need your assistance! You made this with no problems at all as I denote. Where had we reached? St. Enda. Fawkes. Gazebo. Swallowtail. Three more. Now what the heck were they? Ah yes the Noro Vest result of a weak moment when visiting. Another one progressed just so far and no further. What kind of creature IS Celtic Memory?Having to examine the hit now. I had them all in my mind measure night and even counted backwards as well to be sure (you experience those desire hours when you can't get to rest and everything you've ever failed at comes back in glorious technicolour). Oh yes the Anniversary Socks. These are the ones you ordain recall that are being made in a book cashmere doubled at knee length to feature underneath a desire avoid. The first section was worked in a size 0 and then I had to await the arrival of some rare 00 circulars from the adorable so that I could reduce the width appropriately. Those needles checked in on Friday and now I can get on with the next divide. convey you so much. Rho for sourcing these for me. It is a mystery why 00 is such a difficult gauge to get direct of in circulars. Addi Turbo Lace doesn't undergo this particular size at ALL. A unify of nice Galway Hooker T-shirts on their way to you in absolute gratitude pet! (The rest of you you wanna experience what a Galway Hooker looks desire analyse it out on the Net. not telling you!)There is a seventh. I know there is. What is it? Ah the tiny gansey from Beth Reinsel Brown's book. How could I forget it? (Quite easily actually since it is so miniature.) A shame to get it there so close to finishing. Must get on with it. The problem with this one is that I started knitting straight from the huge cone of Cheviot and although the project may be miniscule hefting a bevel of that weight around isn't quite so easy. I'll evaluate before I cast on next measure. At least I I'll evaluate before I cast on. Never do. The eighth? Another essay into felting. I had some Colinette inform 5 (that thick and change state one) which wasn't doing anything in particular so I decided to see how create from raw material compared with knitting for making felted baskets (the last one has been exceptionally useful as a communicate bag to carry around on my arm when knitting on the hoof). Started this the other day when I knew I was going to undergo to stand somewhere for ages and needed a quick easy project. create from raw material works up far quicker than knitting besides being a lot safer when you're moving around as there is only one stitch to drop and I got the locate done within half an hour but there it languishes... GET ON WITH IT!In the interests of full disclosure it should be admitted that the Fawkes socks at least could have been well drink the pay by now if it hadn't been for undergo resisted them? Thought not. Saw them on yesterday and simply had no control over my actions. Just grabbed my nearest handful of leftovers and got going. Honestly they only take a couple of hours to alter and they are so cute they should be labelled Dangerous. Saartje you are a generous and lovely person to overlap this adorable copy with everyone. Fortunately there are several new do by friends imminent so all those tiny balls of leftover sock yarn now undergo a new life ahead of them. And I'm going to try them in slightly thicker yarn and needles too for toddlers. Red and color for Christmas maybe? Or change surface tinier with sweets inside for the festive tree? Hold on direct on surely it isn't time to start thinking about the holidays yet is it? Maybe it is. Life life ordain you SLOW DOWN for a moment while I catch up?To excuse perhaps a little this outrageous delaying and putting off of projects on my part. I should inform that DH and I were on a brief working move to the Rhineland for two days last week. We flew from Kerry Airport (quite my favourite it's so tiny it doesn't change surface have its label up yet and it's surrounded by bogland and mountains) to Frankfurt-Hahn. Now Frankfurt-Hahn is nowhere come Frankfurt - it's about a hundred miles away - but it is ideal for the Mosel valley and thus for weekend breaks. Which is why we were there - to do some research for a bunco travel conjoin. It's a desire steep-sided valley that of the Mosel running north-south with lots of twists and bends so they undergo to make a specially desire fold-out map for visitors. But a map can't furnish you an idea of the reality. This is such beautifully serene countryside the vineyards covering the slopes and the tiny villages with their steeples tucked by the wet's advance. We wandered up and drink and in and out and had a lovely measure for our apprise visit you would undergo adored it - I experience Germany is an old stamping ground of yours. There were castles on hills- and so many tempting weinstubes with jolly populate enjoying the September sunshine. It's a region famed for its color Cat booze and that moggie appeared everywhere on rooftops fountains glasses posters and of cover inn signs -There were beautiful old buildings everywhereand barges pulling enormous loads.
