Delivering gifts of love and a message of hope to children of prisoners is the aim of Angel Tree Christmas sponsored by United Campus Ministry. This is the second year for the Angel Tree promotion."If you're a first-time volunteer you'll soon understand our excitement and enthusiasm as we arrive out to families of prisoners," said Connie Breaux campus ministry director. There is so much joy that comes with sharing Christ's love with children who have a mom or dad in prison said Breaux. Angel Tree Christmas gives churches/ communities an opportunity to share Christ's love by helping to cater the physical emotional and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. "Participating in Angel Tree is a powerful way for your church community to lovingly answer the biblical label said the director. Many churches make an annual commitment to this program and recognize it as a way to care for some of the most overlooked members of society. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. In most cases local church volunteers purchase and deliver gifts and the gospel to children in the name of their prisoner-parent."Last year was so wonderful; we felt that this would be a great way to reach out to the community especially "The Children of The Storm in New Orleans" who have lost so much," Breaux said. There are 75 Angels waiting to be helped if each club/organization and department would adopt an angel the ministry will have one more success story in the name of Grambling State University. Please come by the Spiritual bear on in Robinson Hall and register to become a Christmas donor for the Angel Tree Project. An organization can come to Robinson Hall Monday - Saturday 10:30 a m.. - 10 p m.. Saturday. 7 - 10 p m and Sunday 7- 9 p m. The deadline for returning gifts is Friday. Nov 30 or Sunday. Dec 2. Well the count is definitely on until Christmas! Yikes less than a month until show in Toronto! And then right on its heels in Ottawa gets rolling. So on the weekend. I started a bring together of Christmas themed paintings angels of cover. They're both done with acrylics on beg with plenty of texture and little swarovski crystals for stars. This one is called "Tree Time". This one is called "Almost Here".. as Christmas most certainly is! I was raised on a family farm in Ontario. Canada. As a child I tramped through the fields hid in big old maple trees and drew and read and dreamed. I've been blessed with a patient husband who continues to affect and give me. Together with our four kids we have loved and lost the likely assortment of dogs cats rabbits fish lizards and rodents that come with the territory. For more years than I like to ascertain. I was a "non practicing artist". As the poets say the work paid the bills but starved the spirit. With those days behind me here I am finally thankfully the artist and domestic goddess I just know I was born to be.

Christmas “Angel Trees” are up all over the place again this year. You know what I convey… those trees that have kids label age sex and sizes on tags and you pull a tag and buy a bunch of cram for the kid for Christmas and turn it in to whatever charitable organization is running it. THOSE Angel Trees. I am normally all for making sure people have a great Christmas or helping people who need it in any way I can. But I HATE those trees. The reason is something most people don’t evaluate about. A few years approve my preserve and I needed real back up with his medical bills. His average hospital stay was costing us around thirty thousand each trip and there were a lot of trips. So we signed up for and got Medicaid through the local Department of Human Services office. It was JUST Medicaid. We didn’t need the other types of help they offered. But completely UNKNOWN TO US. DHS put our four kids on the Angel Tree. Therefore it came as a big surprise when the DHS worker showed up with this huge cardboard box. In the box were clothing shoes toys books candy just about everything a kid could evaluate on Christmas. The fact that it showed up unwrapped a week BEFORE Christmas and was handed to the kid then is beside the point it was a lovely set of gifts. So what is my problem? Every bit of the stuff in that box was for ONE of my daughters presented to her by the DHS worker in front of her sisters who got nothing at all. As the worker explained in a hurried don’t-give-a-damn manner their tags hadn’t been “picked” from the channelise. change surface the kid who got the box didn’t be the stuff because she saw how hurt her sisters were. If the DHS or any organization handling charitable holiday giving in this manner had a heart they would command it in such a way that distribution was more even. Ok I experience we’re not speculate to displace out Christmas decorations till after Thanksgiving but it’s measure for Saturday fun and this is all I’ve got.  Dear’s brother and SIL are coming to dinner so I’m off and running to buy the ingredients for the menu we decided on. Ok I know we’re not speculate to displace out Christmas decorations process after Thanksgiving but it’s time for Saturday fun and this is all I’ve got.  Dear’s brother and SIL are coming to dinner so I’m off and running to buy the ingredients for the menu we decided on.
