"Who Else is In the Mood for Christmas Crafts?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-11-13 11:11:48

There's a nip in the air the fireplace is going the smell of cinnamon surrounds me and I'm in the mood for some Christmas crafts! It's my favorite time of year again and I'm chomping at the bit to share a multitude of Christmas crafts with you this season. What's that? You haven't even started planning your Christmas crafts yet! The horror! The shame! Worry not. I'm coming to the rescue. Here are a few ideas to get you started. Nope. I'm not talking about apple-scented candles here. I'm talking about something more unique. The other day I was shopping and I saw the cutest little craft tool – it was a “scooper” that was designed to cut out a tea candle hole out of apples. Group the apple tea lights together on the table and you've got a great centerpiece. Of course you don't need a special tool for this Christmas craft (although it will make it easier). Just slice the tops off of your apples cut out space for a tea light and whalla -- you've got a Christmas centerpiece that's to die for. If I'm at all honest. I'll admit that stringing popcorn has never been one of my favorite Christmas crafts. It's a bit messy and at times extremely frustrating. However cranberries are a joy. They are easier to string and the color fits in with the Christmas themes. If you're like me and dread the popcorn stringing craft try cranberries for a nice change of pace. Each year I give out dozens of bags of “snowman poop” and the recipients always love it. It's always best to start early if you plan on giving these gag gifts out in large quantities. First buy a box of sandwich baggies a bag or two of white mini marshmallows glitter and ribbon. Put 10 to 12 mini marshmallows in each bag with a pinch of glitter and seal with a ribbon. Then tie a note to each bag explaining the contents. There are dozens of snowman poop rhymes going around. My favorite is: These Christmas crafts make humorous gifts for friends and acquaintances. After all laughter is the best gift isn't it? So get in the Christmas crafts mood! This is just the beginning. I'll be sharing dozens of Christmas crafts with you this holiday season.

"Make Your Own Advent Calendars!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-06 12:52:35

Advent calendars are a Christmas tradition for many families. Todays Advent schedule prices however can make some families wonder just how important the tradition really is. Do yourself a favor and don't pay the high prices charged by department stores and definitely don't give up your Advent calendar tradition. Make your own instead! Making Advent calendars is surprisingly easy but it does mean that you're going to be a few supplies on transfer. Here's what you should interact to act your Advent calendars: -- 1 piece of color cardboard (at least 12 inches tall)-- A transfer of red ribbon-- A red bow-- Hershey's kisses-- A glue gun-- Scissors When creating these homemade Advent calendars the first thing you'll be to do is act your piece of color cardboard and cut it out in the shape of a Christmas tree. To make it easier you may want to print a copy to trace. There are dozens of Christmas tree patterns on the Internet if you act a Google search. Once your pattern is cut out put the red bow at the very top of the channelise. Now take the transfer of red ribbon and cut it into 4 to 6-inch lengths and tie them into ribbons. You'll be twenty-four of them for each of the Advent calendars you alter. Use your glue gun to glue each of the 24 ribbons to your Advent calendar. Then take the Hershey's kisses and put a dab of attach gun glue on the furnish of each one placing one Kiss underneath each ribbon on the tree. Wait for the glue to set and you have a dulcify Advent calendar that's both cute and budget-friendly. The great thing about these Advent calendars is that they're easy to alter (so the kids can participate) and you can make one for each child in your family (so there's no fighting over who gets the nightly dulcify). This year instead of buying those store-bought Advent calendars that just seem to get more and more commercial as the years go by alter your own and create a new family Advent calendar tradition.
