"I'll Say It Again....WOW!" posted by ~Ray

If anyone in this area goes to the TSO concert scheduled for early November they are NUTS!Who would go to a Christmas show that early! They scheduled Hershey so early because they know that we are a bunch of hillbillies and would go to a Christmas show in JUNE! For those not in the experience. "TSO" stands for. If you don't experience who they are go to their website (click on their name to take you there) and read about them. I can't describe them in a sentence and do them justice. If I were to to do so. I might say that they are an amazing rock and roll band that is mostly famous for playing Christmas music. Anyhow concerning that communicate from the forum - I really don't think we're a bunch of hillbillies in this area. Then again a few weeks ago when the movie "" was released on DVD it was sold out at a number of stores.. so maybe I'm mistaken! I however realize that Trans-Siberian Orchestra's popularity is growing and in request to visit as many cities as possible during the holiday season it's becoming necessary for them to begin their tour earlier and earlier each year. It's just not possible for them to press all of their tour dates into the month of December! Also the show is not necessarily a measure that I had seen the band in contrive. Everything I wrote about last year applies this year as well so I'm not going to repeat myself. I would however highly suggest that you go construe. The overall show was pretty much the same as last year. The lighten show was a bit different but the show itself was basically the same except I don't remember them playing "Proud Mary" measure year. Also after dealing with the nightmarish traffic on the way to last year's concert. I made sure to get there nice and early this time. After having a Homewrecker burrito for dinner at. I headed to the Giant Center around 5:30. I took Route 22 East to despatch 39 and I had absolutely no problems. Most of my problems last year were due to trying (and failing) to get some dinner somewhere close to the Giant Center. When I did that. I ended up getting caught up in major traffic. The only real "traffic" I encountered was when I got to the parking lot and decided to head into the arena around 6:00 PM - as the 3:00 contrive was letting out - and there was a coming across the footbridge in the opposite direction. I wasn't about to try to go against the flow so I just waited off to the side for the flow to die down. I also had no traffic issues leaving. When I left. I was lucky to be in one of the sections just inside the entrance so I was able to leave quickly and get to my car. I then went out the rear exit that brings you out on the road that leads towards the entrance so I was able to go straight across Hershey Park Drive and get back on Route 39. I was really dreading the traffic after hearing some of the horror stories from concerts this past summer and after having some minor problems last year. However. I was home and relaxing by 11:00. I really respect the band members. They did a solid 2-1/2 hour show with no intermission. The only break they took was to introduce the members of the band. Sure they rotate different members in for different songs to give them each a break but still.. to go basically two and a half hours straight? Also this was the second time they performed the show today! The first show was at 3:00 and the second show started at 7:30 so they got a two-hour break between shows. The band donated $1 from each ticket to local charities. Prior to the show the band members presented a check for $17,230 (if I remember correctly) to Amy Warner from 93.5 and two people from WHP-TV. That means that since both shows were sold out they played to just under 35,000 people today. I didn't decide to buy a ticket until Friday afternoon and since I only bought one (yes. I went by myself ..) I got a great seat looking straight-ahead at the stage. When the band members came back to the straighten of the arena they were right in front of me. Unfortunately when I tried to buy my ticket through TicketMaster it kept trying to sell me a ticket along the side of the arena over and over. What's the deal with that anyway? When you decline a particular seat it shouldn't keep trying to give you that one over and over! Because of that. I called the Giant Center Box Office and got the great seat. It looked like a number of people left again once the first half of the show was over. The first half is strictly Christmas music while the second half features a mix of Christmas music a cover song or two and music from their other non-holiday CD(s). If you pay $50 for a ticket why not stay for the ???!! I just don't get that! Especially when you miss the big finale version of "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24"... There's also a lot of people milling around during the concert. I understand not being able to sit for two and a half hours without an intermission but geez... I don't want to miss Besides that people are strange. A couple in front of me had binoculars with them. That just seemed odd at a concert like this. And they weren't sharing a pair of binoculars. They each had their own pair. There were other strange things too but I will be nice and just stop there. I bought a $20 program this year. Since I ate beforehand. I only bought a lemonade to sip on throughout the show. I'd have bought a soda but the Giant Center just switched to Pepsi... and I wasn't going to drink a beer. So this year between the $58 ticket the $20 program the $3.25 lemonade and the $6 parking fee... I'd still say it was definitely worth it! Finally while I enjoyed the show tremendously. I'm just wondering about something. Trans-Siberian Orchestra has two different touring groups. Again. I understand that they want to be able to tour as many cities as possible during the holiday season so I see the be for two groups. However what is the distinction between the two groups? (Is there an "A team" and a "B team"?) Did I see the group that recorded their CDs?? The band tonight appeared to be the same as last year so do they send the same group to the same cities each year? These are just thoughts running through my object. They don't ruin my enjoyment of the show but they are there.

"?Merry Christmas? is back!" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-06-07 06:33:22

Shocking StatisticsBetween 1976-2005 blacks made up 13% of the US population but committed 59% of felony murders. Overall blacks are 9 times more likely to act murder than whites. Source: US DOJ From the CofCC org News aggroup… America cheers “Merry Christmas,” not “Happy Holidays.” I noted “Merry Christmas” in front of Rose’s Restaurant yesterday. I noted the same on TV shows last week. measure night’s local news kept hyping the lighting of Portland. Maine’s “Christmas tree” in Monument Square. When in Truro. Nova Scotia last week. I was delighted to see a huge manger scene configured in the Emporium’s large lie display window. “Happy holiday” won’t cut it. All that does is up the cash register cling and drunk the drinkers. Happy happy happy holidays holidays holidays. Even the more you tell it it does absolutely nothing in comparison to “Merry Christmas.” “A new survey found that 67 percent of American adults prefer the holiday-specific greeting (that is. ‘Merry Christmas’) in seasonal advertising while only 26 percent want to see ‘Happy Holidays.’ “There wasn’t a gender gap in the answers: Both men and women like seeing ‘Merry Christmas’ in store windows according to Scott Rasmussen president of Rasmussen Reports an independent polling affiliate. “But from a political perspective there was a sleighful of difference: 88 percent of Republicans wanted to see ‘Merry Christmas,’ while just 57 percent of Democrats favored it.” “In 2005. aim stores ditched the use of the word ‘Christmas’ in promotional materials but the retailer decided to resume using it after immense public pressure. “Also in 2005. Wal-Mart prohibited its employees from wishing customers ‘Merry Christmas,’ opting instead for ‘Happy Holidays.’ That decision was protested by religious groups among them the Catholic League which boycotted the retail giant. Wal-Mart announced during the 2006 pass season that it would return to using the words ‘Merry Christmas.’” It may sound worn but the forever truth is very much there — “the cerebrate for the toughen: Jesus.” Views and opinions are not necessarily those of the Council of Conservative Citizens. This summer. Shout! Factory acquired a goldmine. The company with the Country Music Hall of Fame which allowed Shout! to package the Hall's vast collect of musical television performances into DVDs. On Nov. 13. Shout! will release its first offerings from the Hall of Fame's vaults: a unify of Johnny Cash Christmas specials recorded in 1976 and 1977. The 1976 show features Johnny and June Carter Cash at their homes in Bon Aqua and Hendersonville. Tenn. alongside guests such as Tony Orlando. Roy Clark. Merle Travis. Barbara Mandrell and Billy Graham. The 1977 special meanwhile arrived in the wake of Elvis Presley's death. Performed at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House the '77 show includes a tribute to Presley features rock icons Carl Perkins. Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison. Presumably the specials feature the warmer align of the Man in Black though it would be cool to see change tear into "Cocaine Blues" and start kicking over Christmas decorations. The track list tells a different story. Perhaps it's for the better that way.
