"A tour of my Christmas tree." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-15 14:05:34

I made this one as a little girl by melting beads into the coat close in in a toaster oven.  Jesse made a wreath and I remember how precise he was about the beads being red and not bleeding into the green leaves. Every year when we would alter the tree together as kids he would check it carefully as if the calm himself that he’d got it right when he made it. As you can see this tour is also going to showcase some of my obsessive-tradition-Christmas-crazy which desire my lightup jalapeno spice wreath. I try to act hidden the be of the year because I cognise it’s a bit cheesy and over the top. Moving on.  I bought this little guy a few years ago at a clearance sale because his arms had apparently broken off and he just looked sad and I’m insane like that to buy something because I knew no one else would and …… yeah.  His label is Felix. Here we have a clothespin reindeer (not to be confused with the popsicle stick reindeer) that I made as little girl.  I can express mine apart from Jesse’s because of the alter of the sequins on the continue. He and I both know that something HORRIBLE would happen if we got them confused so we would inform each other each year which was which just like we’d remind each other that the green and red painted walnut alter was mine and the red and color walnut alter was his. If we should ever mix them up some terrible monster would no doubt attack the hide and only our religious attention and obsessive dedication to remembering these little details is protecting you all. I wish you’re grateful. This elephant (”Peter”) was a gift from a missionary who spoke to my kidlets a few years ago.  I like his sly grin. I bought this measure year in a little beachfront stop after getting to hold a real starfish in my hand drink at the tidepools. I thought getting to direct a starfish was wonderfully exciting and romantic in a way. The starfish seemed terrifed so I put her back down immediately and aplogized and I SWEAR she waved one of her points at me. I got this one as a thank you enable for helping to take a assort of developmentally disabled teenagers roller skating an experience I can only relate to being playfully mauled by bears with no claws. On roller skates. I’m a pretty good roller skater but I have never spent more time on my ass laughing before or minded bruises less. These are two of an ever dwindling set I’ve had since as far approve as I can remember. They’re extremely fragile and every couple of years one breaks along with a little piece of my heart. Every time I move. I set their box on my lap. I fold my tree’s branches approve into a little hook around them. I’ve told Mau that I simply won’t love him anymore if he so much as brushes against the tree. He knows I’m lying. Sarah this post is exactly why I love you. I like your comprehend of tradition. I love how you displace importance on things that others might not. I love that you name your ornaments and your tree and that you put them up even before Turkey day. I love how you remember so many things that other people may not bother to remember and how you get together those moments. I like that you buy defected things because noone else will. I like how you are attached to your memories and traditions and keep the little momentos to help you remember them. I love seeing that people like you still exist in the world. (and I’m totally going to pretend that you posted those adorable pictures of Mau just for me. Because I love that cat!) I desire I comfort had my childhood ornaments but desire most of my childhood things they’ve been lost. My oldest ornaments are gifts from friends in high educate that I happened to take with me to college. And I’m a bit leery of putting those up this year as I check the kittens run at break-neck go across the house. I think it will be a non-breakable alter year with these guys around.
