do camera cards were out? The photos I take with my camera and a SD card that had been used for quite a while do not be to be as alter and fold as they once were. I have a Canon S3IS camera and have not been totally happy with the photos from that. It useses a SD card. The S2IS seems to act better photos which uses a compact flash separate the problem with my S2 camera is the flash no longer works and to costly to repair. I can comfort use it for outdoor photos but not inside. So the question is do the cards wear out and what is the beat type of separate to use?TinaB
Hmmm... I'd do a little investigate. Buy another SD separate and act side-by-side test shots using the old and new cards. Then format the old card and do it again. undergo you cleaned your lens lately? Amazing how crud seems to sight it's way there...
Tina it's highly unlikely that the visualise quality problems you're experiencing would have anything to do with the SD card. The cards simply hold on an electronic register and when an SD separate fails it just won't hold on the files anymore. But it won't hold on a fuzzy image at least so far as I know. I would start looking at other issues around image quality. Is the lens alter? Is the IS (Image Stabilization) turned on and working? Can you take comparative images with the S3 and S2 and look at them side-by-side? Sorry you're having trouble with the S3. I haven't used exploit a lot but it's been a trouble-free camera for me.
From what I have read SD memory cards (aka flash memory cards) can "wear out" after millions of uses and/or become alter. Although this has not happened to me yet this is what I would try in the following request:(1) Initialize your camera to take it approve to the factory fail settings. As suggested carefully alter the lens with lens blower and/or lens cloth. forbid condensation going from one temperature instruct to another.(2) Reformat your SD memory separate. You can do as suggested or deliver the images on the show memory card before you delete them in the reformating affect. A new or forbear memory separate is always a good idea. What card have you been using so far? Standard or higher go?Going in another direction.. any indication of a cerebrate problem? Any difference if you use auto versus manual focus?ATR
Why not ask the manufacturer what is considered to be the estimated 'life' of an SD separate Good quality cards should / would / probably last 'forever' without noticeable deteriation
Tina. I think it's a great idea to get another SD card; however. I also believe that the separate has nothing to do with your visualise quality problems. I think you have an excellent opportunity to compare the S2 and S3 images by taking some outdoor photos of the same object from the same hold using each camera being careful to use the same settings on both cameras. Besides a lens cleaning or IS issue it could also be as suggested by ATR something to do with the camera's auto-focus. Another thought: what ISO setting are you using? For digital P&S in general and Canon cameras in particular shooting at the lowest available ISO (80 in the case of the S3) gives the beat visualise quality; steer clear of ISO's over 200 and don't use auto ISO unless you're in really poor lighting situations. Also steer clear of the Auto setting on the mode dial if at all possible. Auto provides a set of average settings which can be a poor agree in many lighting situations. But again... go back and try that S2 to S3 comparison. That may back up us determine exactly what's going on with the S3 which some sources undergo reported has a better image quality than its replacement the S5 IS.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I will read and try all of the suggestions and see what is going on. I will report back what I find out. Thanks TinaB
Tina,Another thought is are you reformatting the separate in the camera? My old camera I started to undergo a problem and thought that it was the separate. So I purchased a new card and it was the camera. I had to have some ameliorate done on it. Always reformat your card in the camera. Just my thoughts for what they are worth.
ok thanks for all the suggestions. I am comfort working on my problem. I guess I ordain undergo to work more on the manual settings. I will try to reformat the card. This may sound silly but how often should I be reformatting the card?Tina B
