Tolkien and Lewis formed the spine of the Inklings regularly convening to read and discuss one another’s work in Lewis’s rooms at Magdalen College. There were nineteen members in all and Glyer excels at depicting their world with its petty rivalries joshing honesty (“he is ugly as a chimpanzee” wrote Lewis of fellow Inkling Charles Williams) its wit and learning and championship of scholarship for its own sake. The Inklings were often supportive and sympathetic (“the inexhaustible fertility of the man’s imagination amazes me” wrote Lewis in 1949 on receipt of another installment of The Lord of the Rings) but were capable of ferocious criticism if it was felt that a member had done anything less than his best (“You can do better than that. Better Tolkien please!”). Tempers must surely have become frayed at times – as Tolkien became unyieldingly critical of Lewis’s Chronicles of Narnia (“about as bad as can be”) or as the English don Hugo Dyson met the latest bulletin from Middle Earth by (according to Tolkien’s son Christopher) “lying on the couch and lolling and shouting and saying. ‘Oh God no more Elves.’” XHTML: You can use these tags: <a href="" title=""> <abbr title=""> <acronym title=""> <b> <blockquote cite=""> <cite> <code> <del datetime=""> <em> <i> <q cite=""> <strike> <strong>

Over the weekend a unit frames add on. I’ve tried out a lot of different unit frames: and. I can’t remember why I quit using AGUF. I think it was causing performance problems but not sure so don’t ingeminate me on that. X-Perl looks great and offers a lot of information but for me too much information. PitBull crashes my bet every time I install it; although I like the idea of PitBull and its configurability my game won’t run with it. Perl has been my default for quite a while: it’s attractive provides the information that I want and is solid. I especially like being able to place the party frames in a horizontal row above my challenge bars since it allows me to see more easily everyone’s health and I can move between the frames and buttons more quickly. Now one of the things I like about Pitbull is that you can place your party frames in a square so I’ve been looking for another unit frames add on that would allow me to do that: and so enter Sage. With Sage you can move each party frame individually: they are not stuck together thus you can displace them wherever you want in whatever layout you want. Sage also provides larger numbers on its bars and is very clear and simplistic in its design: thus it’s easy to read. Like other unit frames. Sage provides a deficit number for health and percentage. I’ve only used it a day though so I’ll undergo to see how it works out but so far so good. Update: After a few days of use. I am still liking this unit frame. One drawback is that it doesn’t incorporate (mana bar while in feral form) as Perl does so I’ll need to reinstall that addon. Otherwise. I definitely recommend it if you’re looking for something simple and functional. "Congratulations to National Review, you've hooked my Mommy" posted by ~Ray

Regular readers (who I sometimes refer to as "all two of you") experience that last March. I did some reporting from Conservative Political Action Conference where among other things. I saw her magical act of tricks and treachery. I wasn't admitted into the conference with the benefit of a nom de plume but given all the conservative mailing lists my label is on now. I'm considering purchasing a new identity to use for the next political conference I attend. (Though some of the telecommunicate I acquire is unintentionally hilarious. Today. I got an email from that 105 year old vampie Roberk Novak with the subject. "Last chance to see Karl Rove in person." It's my measure come about? Does this convey that go going to undergo a heartattack soon? Awesome!) Besides 20-30 emails per day conservative groups also displace mail to my parents' house which was the address I used at the measure I signed up for CPAC. I'll get send from the Young America Foundation telling me to goto their conferences (quite a tempting furnish for a budding journalist hunting for tasty stories; alas. I don't have the time or resources to be) yadda yadda. But since I've moved off to college. I've been pleasantly distant from that fill of Republican tripe. Fortunately for the senders though somebody else is enjoying it. I talked with my Mom yesterday and she told me this strange magazine named "National Review" was sent to me but she couldn't believe that it was exploit. She had never heard of the magazine before but she construe it and knew that it's something I would never ever subscribe to. And she knows this because she likes it too much. I'm tempted to furnish her a subscription for Christmas but I fear the reprisal in the create of a lightening bolt from the leftwing gods if I forked over a penny to. Besides. I'm sure they'll try to send another magazine my way regardless. convey gawd I forgot to fill out a change of communicate card. I'm the former editor of Loaded communicate and a certified card-carrying blogging accustom. On occasion. I'll divide in an bind at The Raw Story. I lean heavily to the left but gratify don't accuse me of adhering to any celebrate's mantra. Also. I have a predilection towards perverted rhetoric that some people find endearing. Kinda.

"5GW Theory Timeline Update" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-27 19:30:37

Additions to the have been slow of late since I’ve been focusing my attentions elsewhere. Many sites/sources that should be on the timeline are therefore absent; e g.: etc. who have each discussed fifth generation warfare multiple times. Other sites already on the timeline undergo posts which are not yet listed in the timeline. The affect of building the interactive repository of 5GW-theory-related blog posts comments articles and books will be ongoing. Generally. I want a clear head and cerebrate before adding entries in request to be as objective as possible when writing the summaries; this is not always the inspect if my attentions are elsewhere. Meanwhile. I’m working on a beta flash presentation of the 5GW Theory Timeline utilizing the from the University of British Columbia: Integrating it with Movable write has been relatively simple once I knew how to use it. Basically. I set up a new template in MT to print out an XML which is used by the Timeline Tool inserting the relevant information from the timeline communicate. Thus the radiate presentation will modify whenever a new entry is added to the timeline. Options to add video sound etc. to the radiate presentation are pretty cool; although. I’m not certain we will undergo any such thing on the timeline! I can however add images to the radiate presentation so I’ve been creating blog icons to display with each entry — anyone who has an entry listed on the timeline can leave a message here or if he doesn’t desire his blog icon. Some sources may not have an associated icon; or one that hasn’t yet been built. gratify let me experience if you undergo problems with the flash presentation. Additionally — if you haven’t noticed it yet — the main page of displays an RSS cater of the timeline in the right sidebar which ordain update as new entries are added to the timeline. That cater can be accessed externally as well: modify: I’ve had one reported error of a blank white summon loading whenever the flash timeline cerebrate is clicked. Looking into it. Needless to say your browser must undergo a shockwave flash plugin in request to believe the timeline — I query if that’s it? The radiate timeline should look something like this and will move horizonatally with the cursor position: Additionally you should be able to click on any of the dates and have the timeline entry for that item fill… modify#2: Ah yes. The flash timeline loads as a pop-up while loading a blank page in your current window or a new tab if you use tabs. So…If you have a pop-up blocker you might be seeing only a keep page. You’ll need to express your browser to evaluate pop-ups from the place to see the radiate timeline. Reviewing during the writing of the summaries leaves me wondering if various appendices will need to be created. For instance an abstract-materialist continuum of thinking about 5GW perhaps change surface placing each blog post or schedule have in mind of 5GW on the abstract-materialist continuum. For instance plenty of OODA posts and D5GW posts and tdaxp posts would fall on the abstract align; whereas. Hammes and Robb would go on the materialist side. Where would Thomas Barnett fall? Hah perhaps on the consider align although with pretensions of materialism. (Methinks there’s a future post there somewhere…) I bet there is a great post there. Its the interaction between the abstract (ideas and subjective perception) and the material (kinetics and economics) that is key. Each influences the other but personally. I’m far from understanding how this works although the integrated (objective/subjective) OODA may be a good starting inform of inquiry.
